NFL Week 6 Selections

1)  Texans +6 1/2 @ Titans

JUSTIFICATION: The Texans could be a bit down after last week's tough loss to Minnesota but they could also consider it a moral victory and leave with the knowledge that they can compete with one of the better teams in the NFC.  The Titans are 0-2 and averaging only 14.5 points per game at home this year. The Titans have won all four previous matchups but his year's Titans team has struggled and this appears to be the week the Texans exercise those demons. The Titans have struggled to stop the run so I expect that Domanick Davis will have a big game. If he has success, the Texans balanced offense, with a good passing attack, will be enough to keep this game close, and in my view, likely to win this game straight up.

2)  Seahawks +4 @ Patriots

JUSTIFICATION: The Seahawks embarrassed themselves last week in their overtime loss to the Rams. Now they have to travel cross country to face the hottest team in the NFL. The Patriots accomplished their goal of breaking the previous record for most consecutive victories and their is likely to be a modest letdown of emotions. The Seahawks have won their last four times in New England dating back to 1989. If the Seahawks' wide receivers can stop dropping easy passes, the Seahawks should be able to keep this game close and, considering their high level of motivation after last week, they should win this game straight up.

3)  Cowboys -3 vs. Steelers

JUSTIFICATION: The Cowboys are going to be a bit chapped after losing to their arch rival Giants last week. The Steelers have done exceptionally well since Roethlisberger took over at QB. However, he has not faced the toughest of competition so far either. Bill Parcells will make Roethlisberger's first visit to Texas Stadium a memorable one albeit one he'd most likely like to forget. The Steelers are 1-1 on the road this year but have only scored 13 points in each of those games. They will need considerably more than that to beat the Cowboys this week.

4)  Vikings -3 1/2 @ Saints

JUSTIFICATION: The Vikings don't travel well, as a general rule and only have a 6-5 record at New Orleans but it won't matter this week. The Saints are just awful this year. They couldn't even compete against the lowly Bucs. The Saints make way to many silly mistakes like penalties and the worst possible time, dropped balls, fumbles you name it. The Vikings defense will be putting all kinds of pressure on Aaron Brooks in hopes that he will fumble once or twice. Deuce McAllister helps the Saints to control the time of possession but it won't be enough. The Vikes got a wakeup call last week against the Texans and they will react accordingly this week. I expect a big victory by at least 10 points in this game.

5)  Rams -6 1/2 vs. Bucs

JUSTIFICATION: The Bucs bounced back to get a hard fought victory last week. It was against the Saints though so they lose bonus points on that victory. They also only won by three points against the that lowly Saints team. So, in reality they lose bonus points. The Rams are flying high after their stunning come from behind victory of the Seahawks. They always play well at home despite some of their defensive weaknesses. Griese came in last week for the injured Chris Simms and played marvelously completing 16 of 19 passes for 194 yards. He won't be nearly as accurate this week.  There is a big difference when you come in off the bench and surprise a defense and preparing to be the main man all week long. Remember, this is the same Brian Griese that stunk it up so bad that he had a tough time finding a job this year. And the job he found was as the Bucs #3 QB. He will make mistakes early and often. This will be one ugly game for Bucs fans.
