1) Lions -3 @ Titans

JUSTIFICATION: The Titans will put up a good effort early n this game but they have far to many injuries to be able to have a sustained effort. The Lions are a team that is improving, QB Harrington is starting to live up to his potential. They have a solid, young receiving corps and now have found a running attack. Look for the Lions to control the clock in order to keep QB Volek off the field as much as possible. He is the only real threat the Titans have. If the Lions can control the ball, they should be able to win this game by at least seven points.


2) Vikings -4 @ Redskins

JUSTIFICATION: The Vikes have everything to play for and the skins have little to play for but pride. With all the press about the Vikes late season collapse last year, and their apparent repeat this year, I am expecting the Vikings to come out to prove their critics wrong. Yes, this game is not in a dome and it will be on natural grass, both of which are not good environs for the Vikes, but I'm going to buck the trend and pick the Vikes to win and cover this game.


3) Jets -3 @ Rams

JUSTIFICATION: The Rams looked good last week albeit against an opponent that didn't show up. It will be different this week. The Jets still have to play and play to win to position themselves for the playoffs. They will come out with all the effort and enthusiasm of opening day. The Rams will have to contend with a very well balanced attack and, even though the game is in St. Louis, I just haven't seen enough from the Rams to think they can win a must game like this one.


4) Panthers -8 vs. Saints

JUSTIFICATION: The Panthers will complete one of the most improbable comebacks in NFL history this week by coming back from that horrific start to make the playoffs. They have come too far to come up short now. The Saints are not a good team and this will be, in all likelihood, the last game for their head coach. The Panthers will be inspired to play their best. The Saints, although they have something to play for, are not of the same caliber. They may put up a game effort early but once the Panthers get out to an early lead, the Saints will fold their tents and pack it in for the season.


5) Bills -9 vs. Steelers

JUSTIFICATION: The Bills have a lot to play for while the Steelers are just going through the motions hoping not to get anyone hurt. We saw last week what a futile effort the Eagles put forth in a similar situation. We could very well see a repeat this week by the Steelers. Reports have the Steelers sitting QB Roethisberger, RB Staley and RB Bettis as well as a few lesser stars. As hot as the Bills have been of late, playing at home, against a team that really doesn't want to be there this should be an awful game to watch if you are a Steelers fan. Give the points.
