1) Ravens -7 vs. Bengals

JUSTIFICATION: The Bengals played about as good as they can play last week but still played poorly on defense. The Ravens' defense is much better than that of the Browns. Look for a letdown by the Bengals after such an emotional win. The Ravens have to win to keep what is going to be a tough AFC playoff spot alive. The combination should allow the Ravens to win by double digits in, what I think, will be a low scoring game (under 35 points.).


2) Patriots -7 1/2 @ Browns

JUSTIFICATION: The Browns suffered a tough emotional loss to the Bengals last week followed shortly thereafter by the resignation of their coach.  Some teams could overcome such obstacles. I don't believe the Browns are one of those teams. The Patriots just keep rolling along. They don't destroy their competition with large, lopsided victories often but they do win. With the return of Deion Branch at WR they have even gotten better.  Look for this to be one of those lopsided victories.


3) Chargers -3 vs. Broncos

JUSTIFICATION: The Chargers are getting about as little respect as a team could possibly get this late in the season. They are one of the top offensive teams in the NFL and have showed a resiliency that is need to win championships. Not to mention they are also 9-1-1 against the spread this year. Playing at home against a Broncos team that traditionally doesn't play that well on the road should allow the Chargers to cover the three point spread.


4) Eagles -6 vs. Packers

JUSTIFICATION: The Packers have been playing some of the best football in the NFL of late. If these two teams meet in the playoffs, they should have a solid chance of beating the Eagles straight up. But, with RB Green out and playing on the road at on of the toughest visitor parks in the NFL makes me think the Eagles will come out on top in this game. I know RB Davenport had a great game last week, that happens occasionally when an unknown steps up and shines. But, he won't be an unknown this week and the Eagles will be ready for him. The lack of a running game will mean QB Favre will have to pass early and often. Look for him to have a huge game. The Pack will need an almost superhuman effort by Favre to win this game.


5) Steelers -3 vs. Jaguars

JUSTIFICATION: QB Roethlisberger has not been all that sharp of late and the offensive line, which protected him well early on, has not been very good of late. The Jaguars have a knack of keeping games close, especially at home, but the Steelers have been so hot of late, with their superior running attack, I have to go with them to win the game. And if they win the game, they should cover the spread.
