1) Bucs -8 vs. 49ers

JUSTIFICATION: The Bucs have played well of late and better at home. Since Griese took over at QB, the offense has been contributing and are now at least mediocre. San Fran beat the Bucs at home last year 24-7 and the 49ers have pretty much dominated the series going 13-2. The Bucs are an improving team while the 49ers are on the down slope so, I'm going to go against tradition and take the Bucs at home.


2) Chargers -4 @ Raiders

JUSTIFICATION: The Chargers are the surprise team of the NFL this year.  They have really put together a formidable team. On the other side of the ball, the Raiders are in total disarray. The Chargers have had a week to prepare for this game which will give Tomlinson a much needed rest to get over some nagging injuries. One concern is that the Raiders have won five of the last six at home versus the Chargers. The Chargers weren't very good in those years. They are much better now. I'm going to buck the trend again and go with the team that is playing better football of late.


3) Falcons -2 1/2 @ Giants

JUSTIFICATION: The Falcons have won four consecutive games at Giant Stadium so, they will not be intimidated by the hostile home crowd. A win this week by the Falcons will all but wrap up a playoff spot so, they will have a little added incentive. The Giants are starting a rookie QB in Manning.  The offensive line, that played so well early on, has reverted to last season form. The Falcons defense is much improved this year keeping them in some tight games. The combination of playing against a tough defense and not having much time to make decisions, due to poor offensive line blocking, will make the difference in this game. Look for a lot of turnovers by the Giants.


4) Packers-3 @ Texans

JUSTIFICATION: The Packers are running on all cylinders of late.
Additionally, they have played very well on the road this year going 3-1.
The Texans play very well at home and are not to be taken lightly however, the balance the Packers bring to the offensive side of the house will likely keep the Texans defense guessing all game long. The Texans showed though, against Minnesota, earlier that they will not give up and are likely to put on a big push at the end. I think the Packers will have learned from that game and not get caught off guard.


5) Patriots -3 @ Chiefs

JUSTIFICATION: The Patriots just keep on winning, even after losing one game. They have refocused themselves and have now started another winning streak. The Chiefs are just 1-3 at home this year and the Patriots are arguably the best overall team in the NFL. The Patriots haven't faired well at Arrowhead Stadium in the past but, they are 3-1 on the road this year and averaging nearly 29 points per game. The Chiefs are also a bit banged up.  Their number one offensive weapon, Priest Holmes, will likely miss another game because of a knee injury. This is not the game you want to play without your best playmaker.
