1) Tennessee PK @ South Carolina

JUSTIFICATION: Tennessee may not win big, but they do win. They beat Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama by close scores but win they did. Now they travel to South Carolina where they have a chance to all but rap up a berth in the SEC Championship with wins against South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Kentucky. This being the toughest test of the three. The Vols hold a 18-2-2 all time record vs. South Carolina and hold an impressive 11-0 record since Coach Fulmer took charge. Look for the Vols to be inspired and win another close game.


2) West Virginia -15 @ Rutgers

JUSTIFICATION: The Mountaineers hold a 25-4-2 all time record over Rutgers and an impressive 11-4-2 record in New Jersey. Rutgers struggled terribly against a not very good Pittsburgh team last week. They only amassed 56 rushing yards and fell behind 38-3 by halftime. West Virginia is a much more potent team than the Panthers. I expect the Mountaineers to view that tape and come out firing to exploit the weaknesses the Scarlet Knights have.  This could be a 20 point lead by halftime. As long as they don't put it in low drive, they should be able to maintain enough of a lead to cover the spread.


3) Florida +7 @ Georgia

JUSTIFICATION: As bad as Ron Zook has been for the Florida Gators he has absolutely owned the Georgia Bulldogs. To paraphrase a baseball term from this year, he is the Georgia Bulldogs Daddy. The Gators don't just cover the spread against Georgia, they outright win, even when they were vastly overmatched by superior Bulldog teams. Florida is 13-1 vs. Georgia since 1990 including a 16-13 win last year. Look for the Gator players to play inspired ball to try to give Zook a bit of redemption following his firing.  Another outright win is not out of the realm of possibility and a +7 dog will return you a tidy sum on your investment.


4) Iowa -11 1/2 @ Illinois

JUSTIFICATION: Iowa has won three straight games following short two game losing streak. Iowa didn't play well last week in a 6-4 win over lowly Penn State. That will give the coaching staff a lot of fodder to use this week in practice. Look for the Hawkeyes to rebound with a solid effort against Illinois.


5) Purdue -9 1/2 @ Northwestern

JUSTIFICATION: Purdue, after a very fast start, has lost two games in a row against Wisconsin and Michigan. They need to get back on the winning track this week really bad if they have any hopes of participating in a big money bowl game. Fortunately, they are playing a Northwestern team that they have dominated of late. Purdue has won seven games in a row versus Northwestern and won last year by 20 points. Northwestern coach Walker was hospitalized this week which could distract the Northwestern players. Look for a big margin of victory in this game by the Purdue Boilermakers.
