1) Notre Dame +22 @ USC

JUSTIFICATION: This is a big rivalry game with lots of tradition. The way I see this game unfolding is one of three scenarios. Either Notre Dame plays their hearts out and upsets the mighty Trojans, in which case the Golden Domers will cover; the game is a close one throughout; in which case Notre Dame covers; or USC, which only has to win to hold serve and ensure a spot in the BCS Championship game, gets out to a huge lead and then calls off the dogs, which will allow Notre Dame to get a couple of late scores and cover.  In all three scenarios, Notre Dame covers the huge point spread. The game appears to be a lock if you take the points.


2) Kentucky +23 1/2 @ Tennessee

JUSTIFICATION: Its hard to take Kentucky no matter how many points they are given but, the Vols have not played well of late. They are still winning but appear to be playing to the level of their competition. Last week they gave up a big lead and allowed Vanderbilt to score late and cover. So, the problems they are having are not just on the offensive side of the ball. If their recent form holds, and their appears to be nothing to lead one to think differently, the Vols will win this game but by a much narrower margin than this huge number would indicate.


3) Oklahoma State +5 1/2 @ Texas Tech

JUSTIFICATION: This game should be a lot of fun to watch for offensive minded fans. Both teams have had two weeks to prepare for this game. In a comparison of like opponents, OSU beat Baylor by a slightly larger margin and lost to Texas by slightly less that Texas Tech. Home field advantage helps Tech but OSU has a slightly better defense and a great running game.  If they can control the clock on offense and make just a few key plays on defense, that should be enough to allow them to cover the spread and very likely win this game outright.


4) Memphis -3 1/2 @ South Florida

JUSTIFICATION: South Florida has had trouble with high powered offensive teams this season suffering big blowout losses to Louisville and Cincinnati.  Memphis has a very high powered offense. South Florida QB, Pat Julmiste, has been very erratic this year. If he continues on that trend, he will contribute to at least two turnovers. If that happens, the Bulls are not nearly good enough to overcome such adversity. The Tigers could win their eighth game and are looking to improve their bowl positioning. They will likely not only try to win, but win big. The three and a a half points should be an easy cover as I expect that this game will likely be in at least double figures and conceivably between a two or three touchdown margin of victory.


5) Arizona State -14 @ Arizona

JUSTIFICATION: Arizona State has only suffered two losses this year, one to USC and one to California. Granted, both of those losses were by rather large margins but it shows that they can beat most anyone, except the big boys in the Pac 10. Arizona is stumbling through a really tough season.  They will be motivated early on, playing their biggest rival, but as soon as the worm starts to turn, they passion will fade and the mental discipline to keep fighting will likely be lost. Arizona State QB Walter, is having a great year which few have taken notice of. He finally gets a chance to show his wares to an east coast audience. I think that additional motivation will inspire him to have one of his best games. This game could well be over by halftime.
