1) Alabama +9 1/2 vs. Auburn

JUSTIFICATION: Auburn played a great game last week against Georgia. They showed everyone just how good a team they are. Now they have to play another tough game, away from home, against another quality opponent. The likelihood of a letdown is great despite the rivalry that exists between these two teams. Alabama has been playing real solid football of late.  They got a couple of bad breaks last week versus LSU or this game would be much closer in the bettor's eyes. I think they will be able to focus better and play that solid, tough defense that has worked so well for them this year and keep this game close.


2) UCONN -24 1/2 vs. Buffalo

JUSTIFICATION: UCONN still has aspirations of making a bowl game. They need one more win to get bowl eligible. They can't afford to just win the game, they have to impress. So far this year, they have beaten the weak teams handily but, have played poorly against good teams. Fortunately, the Buffalo team qualifies as a bad team. UCONN also plays well at home and coming off an embarrassing loss to Georgia Tech last week, they will be primed to play well this week. Look for QB Orlavsky to have one of his best games of the season.


3) Michigan -5 @ Ohio State

JUSTIFICATION: The Freshman QB, Henne, is playing better and better each week. He'll need to continue that trend this week. However, Ohio State has not been sharp of late. They are still winning but not impressively, even against mediocre opponents. If Ohio State continues to play the same, Michigan will win this game by double digits. I expect the emotion of this game though, will likely keep it close until the forth quarter. At that point, the overall athletic ability of Michigan will take over and pull away.


4) Vanderbilt +13 vs. Tennessee

JUSTIFICATION: Vanderbilt always seems to have a surprise up their sleeves at least once or twice a year. They lost, at home to South Carolina, in the first game of the year by 25 but, have either won outright or lost by fewer than 14 points in all their other home games. Tennessee has struggles of late and having to go with QB Clausen isn't much comfort to the Vol fans.  With the Vols poor play and a Vandy team that seems to play better at home, the 13 points may be a bit to much for the Vols to overcome.


5) Missouri -9 1/2 vs. Kansas

JUSTIFICATION: Both teams are coming off of devastating defeats last week, Missouri to Kansas State (losing by one point) and Kansas blowing a late lead to Texas with 11 seconds remaining. Which of these teams can put the loss behind them and focus on the task at hand? Both teams are riding four game losing streaks coming into this game. If you compare common opponents, Missouri lost to Oklahoma State by 3 while Kansas lost by 31. Missouri beat Colorado by eight while Kansas lost to Colorado by nine. Given that Missouri is playing at home, it is more likely that they can overcome the loss and cover the spread in this game.
