1) Kentucky +24 vs. Georgia

JUSTIFICATION: Kentucky has played miserably their last two games. For that matter, they have played miserably all year long. They are returning home this week though, after two tough road losses, and they have played ever-so-slightly better at home. Georgia should have absolutely no problems with a very weak Kentucky team. However, they do play Auburn next week and, especially in college ball, players tend to look ahead at the next big game on the calendar. They could very easily be overlooking this week's game thinking that they can still win, with only minimal effort. Also, if Georgia gets out to a big lead, they are very likely to pull starters to save them for next week. All of that makes me believe that to cover 24 points may be a bit to much to overcome.


2) Tennessee -7 vs. Notre Dame

JUSTIFICATION: I have been slow to get on the Irish bandwagon this year.  The one time I was convinced they would come through for me they let me down by losing to Purdue. I just can't see them playing an inspired game at the home of the Vols. The Vols seemed to have played to the level of their competition of late, winning by five, four, four and fourteen since their loss to Auburn. Notre Dame has lost games they should have won (Boston College) and struggled to win games against teams they should have dominated (Stanford and Navy). Tennessee will be one of the toughest test the Irish have had all season long. Going off of their most recent performances, I can only assume the Vols will win this game by double digits.


3) Duke +31 @ Florida State

JUSTIFICATION: Since their big win versus Virginia, the Seminoles have struggled against mediocre Wake Forest and lost to Maryland. They pulled their starting QB last week and appear to have settled on Rix to be their QB. He has shown a penchant for turnovers and poor decisions in his earlier performances. They also have jettisoned their FG kicker and will go with a freshman kicker from here on out. Duke is not a very good team but they have only allowed three teams to score over 31 points with the majority of teams only scoring in the high twenties. If they can continue to play good defense, all they will need to do is keep Florida State to the high twenties, like they have done so often already this year. I expect the Seminoles to score a bit more though, however, Duke should be able to generate at least ten points. That should be enough to cover the large number.


4) Florida -12 1/2 @ Vanderbilt

JUSTIFICATION: The Gators have lost three of their last four--only winning against MTSU. Vanderbilt is about on a par with MTSU so the Gators should be able to handle an overmatched Commodore team. They showed heart last week though in the 31-34 loss to Georgia. The players desperately want to win a game for their beleaguered coach. This is the game they can exercise some demons.


5) Texas A&M +12 vs. Oklahoma

JUSTIFICATION: The Aggies struggled the last two weeks, winning in OT versus Colorado, and losing in OT to Baylor. It is likely that, after a fast start, the Aggies were caught looking ahead to this game versus the Sooners, at their home field. Well, the game is on. Which team will show up though.  The one that won five games in a row by an average of over 22 points or the team that struggled against relatively weak competition the last two weeks. I'm banking on the former. Twelve points is a lot for two teams of this caliber. Florida is only favored by 12 1/2 over Vanderbilt. That should give you an idea of how much 12 points actually is. Home dogs also have a tendency to step up in front of the home folks. Look for a real tight game.
